The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Latvia in Nepal is led by Mr. Karan Vaidya, Vice-President of Vaidya Group since 2017.
The functions of honorary consuls are set out in the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, 1963. While the roles and functions performed by honorary consuls can vary, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in the Federal Republic of Nepal is primarily appointed to provide:

- Consular services and/or assistance to Nepali citizens and Latvian citizens in Nepal
- Support local Nepali and Latvian community efforts
- Provide visa related information to Nepali citizen interested in travelling to Latvia
- Assist in the development of trade and economic relations between Nepal and Latvia
The Honorary Consul does not issue visas to Nepali citizens for Latvia, but can provide informational support to interested parties. The Republic of Latvia is a member of the European Union which is why it requires visitors to apply for a Schengen visa.
